Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
The short answers to everything event organisers ask before they run their first game. Something missing? events@boardroomgames.app gets a fast reply.
Do players need to download an app?
No. Players scan a QR code on the big screen and land on a web page — no app store, no accounts, no logins. The only person who needs an account is whoever runs the show.
What if the venue Wi-Fi is bad?
Players load one lightweight web page, so ordinary mobile data is enough — the show doesn't depend on venue Wi-Fi for the room. The host's console and the big screen need a connection, and a phone hotspot covers both.
How hard is it to set up on the day?
Plug the big screen in over HDMI, open your console on a phone or laptop, and put the join QR up. Most hosts are ready in a couple of minutes. There's nothing to install anywhere.
Does the host need to be technical?
No. Anyone on your team can MC — create a game, and drive every reveal with a tap from a phone. You control the pace: tight 30-second rounds or let the laughs breathe.
How many people can play at once?
The games are built for real function rooms — from a team of ten to a few hundred people. The biggest formats handle 300–500 players scanning in; each game's page notes its sweet spot.
Can we put our company logo on it?
Yes. Your logo goes on the big board, on every player's phone, and on printable table cards. Set it once in your account and every game wears it.
Can we write questions about our own company?
Yes — type a topic like “our Q3 launch” or “office in-jokes” and the built-in AI writes a full round in seconds. You review and edit everything before the room sees it. You can also upload your own question sets.
Does it work for remote or hybrid teams?
It's built for a room first. Hybrid works when remote colleagues can see the big screen (for example, on the same video call) — they scan the same QR from wherever they are. If your event is fully remote with no shared screen, we're honestly not the best fit yet.
What does it cost?
5 games a month are free — no credit card. Paid plans are simple credit bundles where one credit runs one game, any format. See the pricing page for current tiers.
